American-based South African actresses Bubu Mazibuko and Nondumiso Tembe are currently back in their home country, for work on a new movie that also stars a host of other local actors.
Tembe – known for her role as New York-raised fashion executive Phumelele Miya in ‘Generations’ – plays leading lady Lungile Sabata in the film, which tells the story of a SA woman who lives in the big apple, but has to return home for an arranged traditional marriage to a king.
Former ‘Gaz’lam’ actress Bubu Mazibuko, who also lives in the US these days, stars opposite Tembe in the film, entitled ‘Zulu Wedding’. Mazibuko plays the role Lungile’s best friend, Marang.
American actor Darrin Dewitt Henson stars as the leading man in the movie, which kicked off production in Johannesburg early in August.
Other local actors who are part of the cast include Makgano Mamabolo, Pallance Dladla, Jerry Mofokeng, Lorcia Cooper and Kelly Khumalo.
